This week is officially designated as High School Service Week at Lansing Christian School. While the world around us has changed with COVID-19, that doesn’t mean students are unable to serve others.

At LCS, we recognize the value of service and work to encourage service as the direction of student learning. Throughout the year, our students have served and learned in the community with refugees, the elderly, students in other schools, and members of our own LCS community.

Each year, we send out our high school students into Greater Lansing to use our talents and opportunity to meet the needs of area organizations. This year, we also set time aside for service. In times of crisis, we recognize God’s faithfulness and blessing and “look to the interests of others” (Philippians 2:4). We encourage students and families to find safe and meaningful ways to serve one another and to serve together.

We’ve encouraged students to serve God by serving others this week in practical ways – in their homes, in their neighborhoods, and in the community. Developing hearts and habits of service in practical ways is an opportunity we have in front of us right now.

Thank you, students, for seeking out ways to be of service to others during this time. The world needs you.
